Personal Statement Reviews
We will guide you through the new Personal Statements, ensuring you remain within the word count while developing a high-quality statement that encompasses all the qualities medical and dental schools are looking for.
Many medical and dental schools use the statements to shortlist candidates, while some use them in the interview. Regardless of how the universities use them, you will still need to complete this on the UCAS platform.

What is changing with personal statements?
Personal statements are changing from one longer text to three separate sections, each with a different question to help shape the focus of student’s answers. Each section will have a minimum character count of 350 characters, which is clearly labelled on the question boxes and an overall character counter, to ensure students know they are on track.
The new questions are as follows:
Why do you want to study this course or subject?
How have your qualifications and studies helped you to prepare for this course or subject?
What else have you done to prepare outside of education, and why are these experiences useful?
What is not changing?
The personal statement will still be 4000 characters in total; this includes spaces.
The content of the personal statement will remain broadly the same—it will just be split across three sections rather than one long piece. The expectations and quality for what students need to cover are mostly unchanged.

Consultant-Led Personal Statement Masterclass
We offer a comprehensive review service with high-quality standards.
The first step is to attend a unique teaching webinar by Dr Afrosa Ahmed, going through all the essential components and looking at past medical and dental statements for inspiration. The appropriate use of AI in personal statements will also be covered, as students' applications can be rejected altogether if AI is misused. Following this webinar, the student can have a 121 review with a Super Tutor from Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, UCL or with Dr Ahmed herself.
Dr Afrosa Ahmed has 30 years of medical expertise as an NHS doctor and medical educator, with previous teaching posts at medical schools, including UCL and King's College London. As an ex-medical school interviewer, she has extensive insight into what the admissions committee look for (this information is not passed onto candidates in keeping with medical school guidelines). In addition, she has a strong literary background as a writer for the renowned worldwide Michael O’ Mara Publishers, with her latest book, ‘Mindful Healing.'
